After trying a few searches i still can find the correct info so here goes.
Im trying to work out how these chain drive diffs fit together.
From what i understand, the standard mini diff could be used, however it will break basically straight away. the 4 pin diffs and limited slip diffs can handle the power better and will last longer.
Ive looked at a diff and from what i can tell there is only an output shaft on one side, as the other side would be attached to the crown wheel.
My main question is that if you take away the crown wheel and replace it with a sprocket, for a chain drive, how would you connect the drive shaft to the diff. obviously the loss of the crown wheel means that there is no output shaft and so nothing to connect the drive shaft to.

I'll appologise now if i havent explained this very well, but its late and im nearly falling asleep writing this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, if anyone has any pics this would be great as well.
Thanks.

Both driveshafts fit on the splines of the planet gears, the crown wheel has a hole in the middle to let the shaft on that side poke through.

Are you saying that there is no output flanges for the pot joint inners and outers to attach to because you have lost he casing and covers from the std mini box?

What i meant is that without the crown wheel to keep the shaft centred, it will not run true and it will not stay in place.
i think that i may sorted this now though, had a closer look at a diff today and i think i may have found a way to solve this.

Sorry for going off topic, but where did that diff come from? It would make our electric conversion much easier with something like that.
