Hi guys im new to this forum and this is my fist post, i have got a beautiful mini metro (in yellow!) and it has got a gt1275 enguine. The top speed however is only around 65mph which as you can imagine is not ideal! Any ideas on why or how to make this faster?? Need to beable to do motorway speed and not get over taken :P
Thanks in advance

For starters its just a Mini. The Mini Metro is a diffirent car entirely! Crazy paint job though!

Your low top speed is likely due to a timing or fuelling issue. We would need more information on what the car is doing at 65mph to be able to answer.

Are the revs high? Does it misfire? Things like that.

Have you checked the speed with a GPS?

I agree, check spped with something other than the speedo.

There is a big differance between 4 and 5k in revs, but if it's at 60mph, then you have a very low diff.

It may just be that the engine is not properly set up and the extra drag and weight of the body kit mean it's struggling.

I think there's something a drift with the engine, apart from the final drive ratio. It runs to 6k and at 4-5k should be producing more power than the 3-4k that would be more usual for a road car. I'd start by looking at brakes, tyres etc & the air filter. You could also use a timing strobe to plot the ignition advance through the rev range.
