I don't like the MK2's as much although they do go well. Never been a lover of the CVH, had one in our lhd XR3 and what a nail. New dizzy (that caused some grief) re newed the bottom end but the bodywork was like new. Just a shame the previous owner was a complete and utter clown ( i would have said something else but i would be breaking the rules) :xxx:

Nah i don't like them as much the mk1 is gorgeous i think white will be my colour of choice! It won't be just yet but i will have one!

You know the CVH engine was nicknamed Coarse Vibratory & Harsh back in the day. Told that to my friend who had an Escort and he wasn't too happy

I know it as Constant Vibration and Harshness, bit like an A series then really!

I had a MKII, but use to know a few people with MKIs back in the day.

Rust and radius arms was what I always used to fail them on for MOT. The inner wings were bad on them, especially around the top shocker mount, the back end of the sills, the boot floors and rear arches.

I know there was also a certain batch of shells (Ford nuts could tell by the Chassis numbers) that everyone always wanted as they were far better for corrosion resistance. I think they were Y-plate ones from memory.

My MKII was a great fun car and was great at the age of 18. I modded it quite a bit with a decent head, better carb, manifold, exhaust manifold....the usual stuff. But the CVH engine......meh.....valve seals laking.....meh. Mine got written off by someone driving into the back of it at 40mph as I turned into my drive!

I am going to get rid of my daily and get something along these lines too, so I'll be interested to see what you find.

I'm thinking of either a 205 GTi again, or maybe a MKI/MKII Golf as I've got a spare 1.8T 20V engine to slap in one. :D

Everyone in my mini club takes the proverbial out of me because i like old fords. My dad had a mk2 Orion ghia which he regrets ever trading in for peanuts.

I had a X plate and a A plate one of the last ones, lovely cars, still have the lump from the x plate in the garage, it got nicked and found upside down on a abandoned railway line partially burnt out, minus wheels. Cracking old school nothing too advanced mechanically back in day and now so 80's cool.

That must of been heartbraking! Such a shame another one gone!
