The problem is, is that the heater matrix inside of your heater will be blocked up, happened to me.
What you need to do is get a bucket and a hose, remove both pipes and the matrix from the heater and then blow it through with a hose.
It'll then work like new
Or if there is any problems with the matrix just buy a new one

I know the feeling mate!
The heaters in mini's aren't actually too bad at all when they're working properly!

I have this issue too, so it could be the hose the connects to the heater from the water system ?

It will be the heater matrix itself that is blocked up, disconnect the hoses from it, put it over a bucket and blow it through with a hose

No heat in mine last year. Pulled the matrix and it was solid inside...no hope of clearing it out. Bought a new matrix for cheap off of ebay and works great now. The rest of the car...not so much!

Check thermostat isnt stuck open
- Possibly replace with 88c one while your at it.
Check coolant level is good. Good time to check anti freeze while your at it.
Make sure heater tap is open and pipes to heater getting warm
If still poor, check for blockages, partially block radiator if your engine runs cool anyway etc
