I have just bought another mini 1975, fitted with a 1275 Metro motor, HIF44 Carb with K&N filter, electronic ignition, sports coil, Cooper S free flows etc, (will post photos soon) My other mini a1975 fitted with Allegro 1275 managed to set fire to itself)
My problem,I'll try to explain.
When started and put under a slight load tends to backfire and fart around, even when running at say 30kph then foot down, but it starts absolutely fine. Then when driving if you try to double the clutch when changing down, there's no increase in revs (the motors still going), just nothing. Or if you "knock" the gear into idle and then a quick "blipp" on the accelerator "nothing".
We have fitted new plugs, rotor arm, checked the inlet manifold for any leaks, the carb has all been checked, timing. There's not much left to check I guess.
Would the wee module which is attached to the distributor with wires coming from the coil cause any problems, These wires just plug in to the module on the coil.
Hopefully Ive managed to describe the problem.
