What a bad week. First my heater element floods my car, carpets are ruined and now this. Basically the trottle pedal clicks and rattles. I've found the small metal cylinder thing that clips onto the top of the pedal to hold the pedal to the cable but it still rattles. Throttle still works fine but its very annoying.

Thanks

It's only a bent rod through some plain holes drilled in a Bracket, they do wear eventually. You could try botching it with cable cleats or summet similar, but be very careful it can't stick Toyota stylee!

Of course it could be the throttle cable just needs tightening at the carb end, there should be a tiny bit of slack though.

The Toyota problems were mostly not caused by mechanically sticking pedals. There was a very big cover-up, and a lot of lies. Experts from NASA and elsewhere were called in by the authorities to investigate. Several things came to light, including at least one case of tin whiskers (due to the use of unleaded solder) in the engine management computer, software errors, EMC, and downright incompetent system design. The investigations are still continuing.

After what happened, and the lies, I would never, ever buy a Toyota. The multiple faults in the accelerator and brake systems have not all been fully identified yet, far less fixed.

Your Mini, with a mechanical pedal, AND an ignition switch that will positively kill the engine, AND a clutch and gearstick, either of which can positively disengage the drive, AND brakes that are not impaired by gross software errors, can not kill you that way.
