Hi Guys,

Yes this is a question about a Bini, not a classic mini & yes I know there are Bini forums - but your all a bunch of such kind souls, I thought I would ask here first (and the fact I was already browsing TMF, and it has literally only just happened)

The fuel cap cover is not opening with the central locking - would this be the solenoid? / does it have its own solenoid or is there other stuff that also wont work, if it was the solenoid? (ie: boot lock is powered by the same solenoid etc)

And then if it is, any idea how to change it? or how much a garage would charge?

I tell you what her car is jinxed; always something wrong, and now its out of warranty - almost worse than my mini haha

Thanks in advance!

It would have its own motor / solenoid to hold the flap shut. You can probably get to it by removing the trim inside.

Thanks, Yeah I've just shreaded my hand squeezing it up to grab the locking rod

(does have a green "pull chord", but it doesnt look like it would hold anything if Ipulled it - especially with the amount of force I needed to put in to free it!)

Is there anyway of testing a solenoid without buying a new one?

putting the required voltage across the solenoid would show it if is working, probably 12v

Excuse my ignorance; but the solenoid basically acts as a servo/switch - IE: everytime the circuit switched live, it should switch to its alternate position?
