I have recently changed my 998 to a 1310 engine. I had seen the engine running before i got it so i know it should work. I had to swap over all the bits off the 998 over to the 1310 but i did get a HIF 44 carb and a LCB and RC40 exhaust system. I think it wont start because the timing is so far out but i have tryed adjusting that while the engine is turning over but it still doesnt work. If anyone has any ideas that would be great.

Yeah i have sparks at all of the plugs. I havent checked the float chamber for fuel as i dont really know much about the HIF 44 carb, i used to have a SU carb, but i can smell the fuel.

HT leads you have put them on with the dizzy rotating anti clockwise 1 generally top right and then 3 4 2 going round anti clockwise on dizzy, have you got a spark if so pour a couple of capfuls of petrol down the carb and crank it over if the timing is near it will cough and then try rotating dizzy back and forth a little at a time and see.

I will check the order of the HT leads tomrrow as im not 100% sure about that and i will also try the petrol in the carb. Thanks for your help and i will update this if i get it working or not.
