Ok so now all is clear. The wording you used in your OP made it sound like you had bought pods and need help building them!?

So if you are building 'door builds' they should be open and vent in to the doors. The doors need to be well deadened on both inner and outer skin. And the trim panel that cover the doors be as air tight as possible.

Look for BlueTurboMini's build thread for some great door builds...

No, you are miss-understanding the whole point of a speaker enclosure but hay that's ok we all have to start from somewhere. :D

http://en.wikipedia....eaker_enclosure

The most important bit is.

"The primary role of the enclosure is to prevent sound waves generated by the rearward-facing surface of the diaphragm of an open driver interacting with sound waves generated at the front of the driver. Because the forward- and rearward-generated sounds are out of phase with each other, any interaction between the two in the listening space creates a distortion of the original signal as it was intended to be reproduced. Additionally, because they would travel different paths through the listening space, the sound waves would arrive at the listener's position at slightly different times, introducing echo andreverberation effects not part of the original sound."

What that means is if you get the waves from the back interacting with the waves from the front you will get cancellation. At its worst if a wave comes in at 180 degrees out of phase (mirrored) then you will get no sound.

So that question i asked was a bit stupid
Would it be easier to make a backless pod and attach under parcel shelf ??

1: Why would you want speakers behind you?

2: Why not just make a backless door build?

I ment under front parcel shelf sorry, dont want anything on the back shelf as may fit a sub sometime
Might be stupid here but why do optimise sell fully enclosed pods as you say it interfears with the waves and any heat cant escape

Heat from speakers is negligible, and not a factor.

Sealed pods are OK but due to the lack of air capacity they restrict the output of the speaker (strangle it).
Most car speakers are designed to work with the air space of a modern car door, about 40lts.

So best to either build door builds that use the door air space or pods that use a AP which allows the speaker to breath but defuses the rear waves.

Or do what I did and cut the kick panels and create a bigger enclosure the other side.

to be honest most of the stuff you are asking had been asked and answered many times before, it might be worth spending some time looking at build threads and older ice questions. :D

Simply because there is nothing wrong with sealed pods, if you are installing an audio system into a vehicle that doesn't have an audio system anything is an improvement.

Plus, not everyone can afford (or wants to splash out) the extra £10 for our AP pods.

Car audio is entirely down to what the customer wants, you might want a top end spec for your Mini, but - most of our customers simply want to install speakers in there car because there car doesn't have any speakers.

And, they are not bothered about sound quality, especially considering they are often installing the pods in classic cars with zero sound proofing, loud engines or even soft tops.
