As per picture below, is there any crimp tool or less fiddly way to connect bare wires to the these pins? The yellow one is an example from something I had in the garage, the smaller one are the ones for my plug.

Yep, you need an uninsulated crip tool. They look like Molex pins to me.
Check a certain famous internet auction site....

The loose one looks like a molex pin. When i did mine i loosely crimped them with some pliars and put a small bit of solder on it. Works a treat as long as you dont add too much solder, as it's tight putting them in the plug its self.

I done a test solder on a spare connector and it bent it with the heat of the iron! I think mine is not a low heat one!!

Managed to do them, only 5 of them by gently crimping with pliers.
