Hi
Was wondering if anyone could help me identify the SU carb in the attached picture? There is no tag on the float bowl.

Looks like a hs4 to me mate, but don't qoute me on this.

Thes best way to measure it is take off the air filter and measure the hole at the back of the carb.

If it measure:

1.25" = HS2
1.5" = HS4
1.75" = HS6

Hope this all helps

Cheers

Bobby

I've just measured the bore of the carburettor (fliter end) and it measures 1 3/8"??? Odd?

That would make it read 1.375", which is in between the HS2 and HS$, but never heard of a carb that size, so I am a bit baffled on this one mate, try using the link that tractor put up, maybe that will help.

Sorry mate, I am not that knowledgable to tell exactly which one it is.

Looks identical to my hs2.
if you have a haynes, they have some good diagrams in there to help you identify which one you have

You measure the Butterfly end not the filter end. Its the size of the butterfly that determines the type

what shape is the flange where it mounts to the inlet manifold? hs6 is like an upside down triangle(bolt holes on each corner), hs4 is like a oval tilted to one side(bolt holes at each end of the oval) and hs2 is an upright oval(bolt holes top and bottom)
if its any help it looks like a hs6 to me

Mystery over, it measures 1 1/2" at the butterfly end making it an HS4. It also has (had) a naff chrome cover over it which was confusing the issue a bit!
thanks all
