I'm making a mini cars and parts price comparison site and I would be grateful if a few of you could use the search feature on the right of every page to search for relevant mini products, when you make a search a new page is created which displays what ever you searched for, each page become a permanent page on the website.

I will periodically categorise the pages.

There is also a facebook page which shows new searches, if you like the page you will be notified of new searches

Firstly, let me say that this is a good idea. However, the search function is a bit pants at the moment. I'm looking for a heater matrix which i know are available ebay. When i search for 'Matrix' it brings up everything with the word matrix apart from the heater.

Keep working on it, I'm sure it will be a good tool.

Thanks for your positive comments!
adding the word heater improves the results :)

the word mini is auto added to the begining of the search string, to get good results the other words need to be specific.
I can exclude results too after each page is made, when Ive done this the results get better again.

make it crawl through all the mini parts providers and show you the best price for the same item.. ie minisport, minispares, huddersfield et al..

at the moment I don't really see the difference from typing in for example "mini heater matrix" on ebay? or am I missing something?

I get the theory but restricting it to ebay and amazon you're missing a trick...

Obviously this is a format which you are use to with your other related sites eg http://www.lambretta...ts-for-sale.com which seems to be a little more mature, and has 'links' to sponsored sellers.

For a comparison site to work you must have similar products listed side by side, this is a one stop shop, of only two shops... and I would akin this to google shop which takes information from not only loaded information from merchants but also the wider audience.

Good luck with it, but don't get blinkered by ebay.... there are a lot more retail outlets in the world.

Thanks for the comments, all taken on board.
I have been working on including more outlets.

The idea came from my bad experiences finding stuff on ebay so i decided to make something that did what I wanted it to do. its far from perfect but its evolving, as and when I get time to work on it :)

ps...

categorise is spelt with an S not Z

makes you sound American, or someone using a translator which really does put people off, or give the impression of a scam, when considering websites specifically aimed at the UK market.

Spelling isn't a strong point of mine.

why do you presume the site is aimed specifically at the UK? the results shown are actually IP dependent, it shows results from which ever country you are in.
if you in the UK it shows results from ebay.co.uk
if your in Holland it shows results from ebay.nl
etc etc

Ive edited my 1st post to reflect the English spelling mistake you quite rightly pointed out :)

Guessworks trades on ebay :)

If anyone else on here trades on ebay or amazon and would like to be a featured seller on my site please let me know :)

This now seems to go to some annoying website with photos of people's faces. Shame as it sounds like a good idea. If it searched Somerford Mini, Mini Spares etc that would be amazing! Drive down prices too :proud:
