as far as i'm aware the ECU on the mpi cars is not mappable, if it was then john cooper would surely have done it on his conversions in the mid-late 90's

Plenty of mappable aftermarket ecus about, but they are expensive and imo you wouldn't gain a whole lot unless you'd done some decent engine upgrades too. Head, cam etc. the usual. Plus I wouldn't trust a stock engine and gearbox to go much past 90bhp

As above, no you cannot remap the standard ECU.... Not unless you have very sophisticated software and you are a genius lol

alternitavely you throw the engine in the bin along with the injection system and put a carburated motor in it........:-)

I'd be offended if you weren't right.....of course if it ever breaks, spares might be tricky to come by O_O

Yes, Sir Max is in a league of his own and we love him but he is a SPi and they were so much easier to deal with. Creating an ECU for twin point injection on a MPi was incredibly difficult and is probably the most complicated ever designed for any car even though the functions are quite basic. I am a bit sceptical if any aftermarket version actually works properly on a 5 port head. I am happy to be proved wrong.
