Does anyone know for sure if the rear number plate light is legally required during the daytime, when it wouldn't be used anyway?

Thanks. Guy.

It is required for MOT and there may be a requirement to use lights in poor weather so the answer is yes it is legally required !

who is to say it's not going to be dark at midday? I've lived in Sweden where its dark for 22 hours a day!

Yes it's a legal requirement, but of course that's not to say you can't change it for something a little prettier than the great lump it is!

Ok cheers guys. I was going to paint the housing tomorrow, but I need to drive the car during the day so I'll leave it.

Cheers. Guy.

I once striped my car down, and drove it to halfords with no windows (Apart from windshield), No headlights, and no front indicators.

Didnt get pulled either! :P

Was no point in building my car back up after I spent all day striping it down, To Drive 1.5 miles to local halfords.

Was quite cold tho!!!
