Can't Get 1St 2Nd Or Reverse

pulled up to a set of lights and a perfect 7mile drive knocked it of 4th as I pulled up then went to select 1st and wouldn't go in so I tried second and it worked fine, then pulled up to see what's wrong and I just can't get 1st, 2nd or reverse? and ideas??

Check the roll-pin attaching the shaft to the back of the gearbox is not dislodged and catching the casing.

Other than that can you describe the actual problem..

Can you not move the gearstick left and right, or can you not get it into gear or you can select the gear but there's no drive ?

this is dad, seems its a selection problem says roll pins are ok and in place , seems he can now get gears but third was not good . seems that he has all gears now!!! agh

Is it stiff across the gate between 2nd to 3rd?

hello real holmesy here, everything seems to be okay now, back to normal
I forced it into reverse then after that I managed to gently force the rest and all worked fine after.
very odd!!!
