I have an SPI engine now on carb, but want to install the heater tap on the left (clutch) side of engine where most are. The two threads are there to install tap, but there is no hole into the water jacket in the head. Assume this just need drilled and the sandwich plate either removed or blocked off?

I want to run the heater pipe this way to a) clear the sc pulley and belt, and b) extend the pipe with copper pipe warpped around the sc intake to reduce icing up the carb.

Forgot to add, can it be done with head in place and just flush the water system out or would it need head off?

yes it is just a case of drillin the whole in the right place and block/remove the sandwich plate but just remeber with the SPI the radiator top mount on an SPI is into the sandwich plate so possibly easier to block it
