Hi all,
Another of the many tasks I am going to tackle includes repairing the drivers side door post. I'll get some pictures up this weekend.. but its pretty knackered and will need a lot of work. I was wondering if anyone had and experience in what order I should go about things in the worst case scenario. Obviously I'll be removing the door, but will I need to remove any other panels? I'm about to crack on with my front end rebuild as well, which includes a scuttle, A-panels, and wings.. should I sort the door post out first, then work my way forward?
Thanks,
e

If the car is going to be off the road for a while then take all of the panels that are going to be replaced. While you are at it take off the damper mount each side to see what is hiding there. Also have a good look around the cut out for the subframe in the inner wing as this does crack.
Once everything is off do start at the doorpost. Its at this point you will see whether the flitch panel will need replacing as well. If that is the case i would replace the flitch first or you could do the door post first but either way you will need to leave the holes in either panel to make sure your doors will fit correctly.
The thing here is to drill out the spot welds that attach the door post to the flitch if you can see them at all. Once you have got your post etc sorted then slave in the remainder of the panels. You can then move things around to ensure you have got the right door and bonnet gaps.
