I paid £1400 on my mini first year with parents as named drivers I went through elephant on comparison sites there was £700 difference between elephants prices so ring direct or look around I waited 3 months after I passed my test and it dropped £950 from cheapest quote at the time a
That's not so bad... what cc were/are you running?
Not sure what I've done wrong here, but just getting some quotes for my 17 year old who takes his test in May, and on a fully comp 10,000 smiles per year policy with breakdown cover, me as a named driver, I get:
Adrian Flux (current insurer) £2,225 (and that's third party)
Go Compare £1,600
MoneySupermarket £320
Bite their hand off at £1,600... it really doesn't get cheaper than that unfortunately. For learning I used temporary learner cover as I was only home in school hols; worked out cheaply.
In fact the best bit of advice for newly qualified drivers is get old

Just paid £960 for my lad, just passed, aged 17, fully comp in his own name.
Would have been over £1,400 with me as a named driver, and I'm "clean" !!
Sainsburys.
