You have undone the nutsthat hold the master cylinders in? The studs are in the pedal assembly

you only need to fit the clutch pedal and relivant spring, you do not need to change the pedal box its self :)

Shear bolts! Either weld a bolt to it and you are sorted or use a chisel to knock it undone

Or grind the head off, or centre punch it and drill straight into the end with a drill at least as large as the bolt diameter, which will be 5/16", until the remains of the head seperates from the shank.

Shear head bolts are a real nuisance. I am not sure about the legality of replacing them with something else, as they were a measure introduced by law to attempt to prevent theft, but if you are not worried about that aspect (and I don't think it is checked in the MOT), a mushroom head allen bolt makes a reasonable replacement. Allen bolts are usually grade 10.9, which is one grade up on the original, and therefore more than strong enough, while looking neater than the standard hex head bolt I used last time I had to drill one out.

you can also tap a ball bearing in the allen head with a drop of locktite if you want to secure

but it may be a bugger to get it out

Interseting idea, but I would be inclined to leave it until the MOT tester told me to deal with it.

yes u need the sping else the clutch pedal wont return, so i take it u have a servo atm. and the pedal box u have is for a non servo car.

Also u can use the pedal box cut down for an ultimate engine steady mounting on the passenger side :)
