Putting In A 1275 From A 998

I'm going to put a new needle in the carb but I was wandering if there where any other areas which I will need to change, in order for it to fit in without much bother or should it all fit on nicely.
I've got a 1982 city E with disc brakes on the front if that helps.
Thanks in advance, Toby.

If I where doing this (and I have before
It should fit no bother, only other thing is some later 1275 heads have no heater outlet because it branches from the top hose or thermostat housing. If that's the case theres a few options to rectify it and it isn't hard

You also need a radiator top bracket for the 1275 if you don't have one. The 998 head is different so the bracket doesn't fit. For this reason you also need a top hose. HIF38 should be fine for an internally standard 1275 but I'd recommend a better exhaust manifold than the cast item to make the best of your efforts. You would then need an inlet manifold and might as well put a better exhaust on too.
If I where doing this (and I have before) I'd order a 'stage one tuning kit' for a 1275 and fit that during the transplant. These come with a carb needle too. You would need the correct dizzy though i think. The 998 dizzy fits but i think it has a different advance curve and won't suit the 1275 too well.

I thought i might have to change to the top radiator bracket and hose so i'll definately do that. I'm currently running a 2" side exit exhaust wil a big bore down pipe but I think i might invest in a LCB manifold and a better inlet manifold which would come with a take off for a servo which would be handy for future improvements;) I was considering getting an electronic ignition and ditching the points because I've had the condenser fail a couple of times now so might be worth the investment. The 1275 does come with a heater take off so that one less thing to worry about. I'm currently using a sandwitch plate at the thermostat take off anyway as i've got a
Metro head on her as mine cracked a few years ago, so i presume it would have been a simular set up.
