Hi,
I'm new on this website so I apologise if this is the wrong place to post this. Recently I have been trying to fix the horn on my 1980 Mini 1000 but I have had no luck. Using a multimeter I have managed to trace the problem to the horn-push stalk on the left hand side of the steering column. How would you recommend I go about testing the stalk to make sure it is definitely the problem and more to the point how would I fix it if it was? Sorry if my question is a bit vague.
Thanks in advance.

The purple wire supplies it and the headlight flasher, purple/black runs to the horn from the push switch. The contacts are in the end of the stalk so not really serviceable, you could have a go at dismantling the plastic end, but it'll be an advanced botching task, involving glue.

Thanks for the advice Ethel. I will try to break it open tomorrow and see if I have any luck fixing it.

Confim there's no voltage through it first, you never know, you might get away with using a relay or transistors if it still passes some current.
