Hi Guys,

My insurance is coming up (this year it will be a year driving with 1 year NCB).

I was just wondering if anybody knew if it was possible to get classic car insurance at my age (18 when renewing)?

I have not spoken to footman James although I will or others, but all their criteria say that you have to be around 25.

The reason I ask is because my insurance is coming up at around £2000 and I really don't want to pay that.

The Mini is a 1960 Morris Mini. Boarded out to a 1.1 with wheel arches and alloy wheels.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Liam

You can get classic insurance from them if your under 25. I got mine insured when I first passed my test at 17 for under £800.

I'm 22 now and insured on a classic policy with them again for nearer £700, with an agreed value of £5k.

Only problem is you don't earn proper NCB on a classic policy.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the response. I am going to have to call them. Just a nuisance that they don't have an on-line application :/

they had lost the underwriters that insures younger drivers, (not sure when there gettin them back) i was with them for the 1st year, and only offerd a renewal price as i was an exzisting customer, and it only went down like £3 , but still £1020 wasnt bad compared to £2000!! i was getting quoted £570 fully comp, with 1 years no claims throu gocompare.com on a standard 998 city, think it was with the RAC, but i took it off the road and insured something else, so didnt matter, but 2k seems high, where you been looking?

Well i'm 22 and insured with them on a classic policy now, I had 1 years insurance with them when I was 17 and also spoke to them when I was 20 and looking for quotes and I was never told there was a minimum age.

i can help that problem with the age and FMJ.. when they changed there policy 2 years ago they only allowed existing customers under 23 to stay with them, they just messed around with the price. i know this because a mate of mine is insured through them on a 89 city ... and i missed out by a month :(
