Hi, my car has been stalling when I stop at a light or when i press the clutch while rolling. i can keep it going by using the choke. once i'm at a stand still i can turn the choke off and the car runs idle. i checked the hose going to the distributor, it's not that. i then checked the other connections and i found a broken hose. I'm not sure what it's supposed to do. i added the picture of the hose and the points where they were connected. the hose was broken clean in half and had a rip in it. has me driving it caused any damage? What does it do? is this why my car is stalling?
Thanks.

this is where it connected to the carb

Crankcase ventilation, it sucks fumes out of the sump and burns them in the engine, the reduced pressure also helps prevent oil leaking out. Replace it (any motor factors- but make sure it's oil/fuel hose), temporarily you can just block the connection on the carb to stop it letting air in and making the mixture too weak.

Could that extra air being sucked in be the reason for the engine stalling or would that be something else? Thanks anyway, i'll make sure to reconnect it.

What Ethel says. Also if you're in a right pickle, you can use just garden hose pipe. Don't expect it to last long, but if you just need to get home its another option. Or just get a BIC pen, take the guts out, chomp the end off and use it to make a bridge in the broken pipe.

Edit

The stalling is due to the engine running MASSIVELY lean.

Thanks guys. I replaced the hose and it works great again. It no longer stalls and runs without choke having to be on

Just a bit of extra info: as with all air leaks, the effect is greatest when the throttle is nearly closed because the more open the throttle is the greater proportion of air will go through it to mix with petrol normally. Useful to know for diagnosis and if you are compensating with the choke.
