Mini Racing Green (1989 Version)

Wonder if anyone can help, I've just fitted a internal bonnet release to my 1989 mini, the external one open and closed fine but the internal one 'pops' but doesnt open fully so i have to pull the bonnet pin from under the front panel forward to get the bonnet to open.

I've just spend an hour and half tying to adjust it, I've moved the hinges, adjusted the pin and moved the front panel catch to every possible position but no luck what so ever, the Bonnet is the original and i've fitted new wings and front panel but before i changed the catch there wasn't a problem

I've just spen £35 on a new internal style grille so dont want to go back to the old catch.

Any idea's?

If it worked before fine you shouldn't have messed with hinges, the catch is just in wrong place, get down eye level with catch and the prong as they engage and you will see the prong is hitting the catch either too far to one side or too far back or forward move the catch to align with the prong, try again.

The prong can be bent a little but not recommended, as its bracket to bonnet can snap off or crack paint on bonnet.

will try again to adjust the catch then, the marked the hinges before i moved them so they are back in the right place again.

Would a new pin&spring help as its a new catch?
