The best heads more like 1800.
However, this is irrelivent.
What do you want the head for. Ie what spec is the engine your putting it onto. Its not worth putting a miglia head onto a 266 cammed engine. Youll have no bottom end power despite the short duration cam.

Just to let you know. Good heads start at 1000 pounds.

Smaller head builders should sort you something decent for 500 ish. Phone Slark's at Amesbury, or one of the many others talked about on here, and ask what they could do for your budget.

Depends on what you use the car for.
If youre in a race series then no a 500 quid head will not do it. The engine will not make enough power to be competetive.
If its a road car then a full on race head matched to a 310 degree camshaft is not going to be what you want either and thus the 500 quid head would be a better option.
A 36x30 fast road head from MED will not net you 120hp out of a 1293. It wont even get you within 20hp of it.
Slark`s 37.5x31 head will.

Your point was that good heads start at a grand. They don't. Good heads can be bought for much less, and excellent heads for a specific purpose can cost the earth.
No. It wasnt.

Never mind ey. I wont bother helping people in the future.

Best not to "help" if you're gonna talk nonsense. You've assumed the op wants/needs a top end head and that's the only option. If you'd bothered to read his post above, he wants a half decent head. He won't need to spend the grand or 1800 you're talking about. I agree that a race spec head could cost that, but open your mind to the possibility that he might not want that.
"Hi im after a good head for 1380 engine, ported and polished , all singing all dancing"
My all singing all dancing is very diffrent so someone elses. Ive found this out. Hence why I asked.
"What do you want the head for. Ie what spec is the engine your putting it onto. Its not worth putting a miglia head onto a 266 cammed engine. Youll have no bottom end power despite the short duration cam."
So again if you really want to get pedantic.
Have you bothered to read his post? I have.
