Hello. I want to remove the pinstripe on my Mayfair as it's seen better days and I've bought a replacement.

Is there an easy way of doing this without damaging or scratching the paintwork? If I just use my fingernail I can do about a cm a minute and it hurts after a while haha

Boil the kettle and pour it over a 6 inch section at a time. Pick up the first end as the glue softens pull and keep pouring as you pull.
Works a treat and will not damage the paintwork like a heat gun.

Don't pour the water over your hands.

Now that's a good idea, thanks. I guess the boiling water won't damage the paintwork.

No it wont. The only problem I have had in the past is if someone has used a rattle can to touch up, sometimes the paint does not adhere properly and the stripe will pull it off.

Hot water is much kinder to the paintwork than a heat gun and nice and quiet and of course you can always have a break and make a cup of tea.
