I have 76 Clubman 1098 (with twin clock dash), and I am having trouble with the fuel level and temperature sensor/readings. I have half a tank of fuel but the dial says less than half this (and goes up and doesn alot), and when the engine is up to temperature the dial barely registers it.
I have checked the wiring, and there doesn't seem to be any breaks in it. I have cleaned all connectors, and made sure the earths are all clean. The fuel float is indeed floating.....
If it was only one of them not working I would have guess that the sender unit was broken...but both on the same dial??
Now I am out of ideas, Could it be the voltage regulator? or dial itself?
any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like the voltage controller.

On the back of your gauge cluster you will find the voltage stabilizer. It is a rectangular metal box with some spade lugs on it. First, make sure the wires going to/from the stabilizer have good clean connections and that the metal housing of the stabilizer has a good, clean earth connection. If that fails to fix the problem replace the voltage stabilizer.
The voltage stabilizer is an electro-mechanical voltage regulator. It reduces the car's operating voltage to an average 10V to power the gauges. Since both your gauges are acting up... this is the likely cause.

Thanks for the advice, I did remove and clean the connectors on the stabiliser...just in case...and it looked nice, clean and undamaged.
So I will place an order for a new one and hope that it solves the problem!

got my new voltage reg today, test it by moving the plunger on in the petrol tank and it seemd to have done the job!
Just need to run the engine up and see if that give a stable temperature.
