When I get home tomorrow I will have a look in my copy.
There was nothing special about the sports pack, just wider and bigger wheels and wheel arch extensions.

I have a useful 4 page article from Car Mechanics magazine (June 1999) scanned into 2 PDF files for Diagnostics tracing and fixing common faults on the Rover Mini MEMS 2J (Modular Engine Management System) fitted to all MPI (Multi-Point Injection) Minis.
If you would like a copy PM me with your email address and I will send you the files.
This link to a another pdf file may be useful for Rover MEMS SPI/MPI information.

Thanks, it would be great if you could let me know which magazines tested it. I know the sportspack was not different mechanically (apart from the different dampers), it's just that mine is a sportspack (so has images more relevant to my car).Anything that was published will have been reprinted here:

Thanks for the extra information, I've seen that video and it's in my Mini playlist. There were lots more magazine road tests of the MPi.........I have quite a few of them, I will try to dig out sometime, in the meantime there is this MPi launch video (from Men & Motors TV) that I uploaded a while back:

"Thoroughly Modern Minis" featuring P750 KWK, P751 KWK and P752 KWK - Autocar 2 Oct 1996
"1997 Rover Mini" featuring a Cooper with Sportspack Option - Motor Sport Dec 1996
"Rover Mini" featuring P752 KWK (Sportspack Option) - Autocar 22 Jan 1997
"Mini Cooper" featuring P750 KWK (Sportspack Option) - Top Gear Jan 1997
"Still Crazy" also featuring P752 KWK - Performance Car Feb 1997
The MPi actually came out in late 1996 but is designated 1997 model year.
There wasn't a Sportspack model specifically in the early years of the MPi. The Sportspack kit was a factory fitted option.

Thanks a lot Noah, I've got the right ones now.I'll get some photo's up for you;
Thank you minidizzy, I've just bought all of them on eBay...I have now managed to look at Mini Gold Portfolio 1981-1997. The tests reprinted are:
"Thoroughly Modern Minis" featuring P750 KWK, P751 KWK and P752 KWK - Autocar 2 Oct 1996
"1997 Rover Mini" featuring a Cooper with Sportspack Option - Motor Sport Dec 1996

"Mini Cooper" featuring P750 KWK (Sportspack Option) - Top Gear Jan 1997

Well worth it in my opinion.
Yes I believe it was October 1996 to be precise. And yes you're correct, the Sportspack only became a separate model with the Sport in 2000.
Many thanks to all of you for helping me find this, if you have any other things like adverts or promotional stuff feel free to post it here.
