what sort of dash?

the mdf ones from the internet need brackets... but if you buy a rover cooper one or a decent aftermarket one, they have plastic grips, these grip the upper dash rail and are secured by two screws or nuts and bolts with 2 brackets throuh the bootom (metal bit) of the dash. This is how I fitted my cooper dash, although I'm sure other dashes will be different.
