As above really, flasher never worked. I've fitted halogen lights and also replaced the stalk unit.

Dip/Main beam work fine. Just no flash.

Is it an MOT fail? >_<

EDIT: Its a 84 CityE and a link to a new relay would be greatly recieved.

Cheers, Jack

Careful with the advice - Mk1's don't have hazard's either but his '84 would fail without them.

I think if they are fitted they must work.

At work i often help sit in the cars working lights etc for the main MOT person, we have never checked flashing the lights, or atleast not whilst im there.

the flash doesn't need to work for the mot, as long as dip and main beam work and operate correctly

As above, flashing the headlights is not checked. Mine hasn't worked since I've had it and I CBA to fix it.

Thanks for they responses guys. I didn't think it would be a fail, but I wanted to see if anyone knew.
In reply to Jordie, horn works fine.
Could anyone direct me roughly as to where the flasher relay should be situated on the car?

Flash dont need to work for mot, just main beam has to stay on on the switch.

The headlight flasher is fed by a fuse, which may have failed. The headlights themselves, for safety and legal reasons, have no single fuse, although later models have seperate fuses for main and dip, left and right, which is safe and legal, because a blown fuse does noty lose both lights.

As to which fuse, it varies by model and year, may be an in-line fuse or in the box, but the wire colours are always consistent on a Mini and will be brown (permanent live) on one end of the fuse and purple on the other. The same fuse usually feeds the horn.

If it is not the fuse, it is most likely the switch, as already suggested, but check the connectors on the steering column, and especially the purple wire, which should have 12V on it.
