The use of heating and cooling to change crystal structure in metals has been used for centuries. It is well documented and extensively studied acedmically and practically. Whether the OP would notice any difference in this particular case...................not so sure.

I ran a 120hp 1293 for 20,000 miles without any issues to the block. The only reason I pulled it from the car was because one of the rings failed.

Ill be re ringing the block and putting the engine back into the car and probably running it for another 4/5 years. 35k or so.

I don't doubt that it works but its more a case of being sold something that you don't really need.

Its almost impossible to quantify, if the engine last 30k without an issue is it down to the treatment or the build? Also if it failed after 3k the treatment people would blame the build!!

Don't disagree there, I always work on the principle of spending money on the weakest point. In a 2 stroke that is often the barrels and pistons, but for an A series I can't see the point.
