Does the hub need to be off to get the studs on? The studs are hitting the backing plate.

Am I doing this the wrong way, is there an easy way to this? Posted Image

I'd rather drill a hole thru the backing plate if the hub needs to be removed to install studs. No way am I gona pull the hub off every time a stud breaks.

Hub has to come off!

It's not a huge task,, replace all the studs and you won't really have to worry anymore)

I thought I was doing it wrong when I couldn't find a hole in the backing plate lol.

Hasn't anyone drilled a hole thru the back plate? 1/2" hole at most.

I wouldn't drill any holes in the backplate. Just asking for trouble like water in the brakes etc drillingt through something ...

Just pull the hub off, takers about 10mins:P

What's the torque (lb/ft) for the hub nut? Might try the proper method first.

Or gona try fitting it thru one of the holes (handbrake / slave etc etc)

it doesnt even need 10mins, you just slacken the hub nut until you can get the stud out and just put in the new one and re-tighten it

Remember to check what side you are doing in the Haynes, one side is a left hand thread so you dont want to bugger it up by tightening up if you think you are un doing it..! Like i done once....

Thanks for the tip. Right side = right hand thread = counterclock to loosen.

It is 1.5" right?
