Hi all, Please can you lend me some advise.

I have opening windows in the rear of my 1985 Mini.

I wish to replace these with non opening windows from a 1971 Mini

First question, I assume these will fit ok. Look fine.

Also, How do I take the old ones out and put the new ones in.

Can anyone lend me some advise on this.

On my 77, the rear opening windows were removed by unscrewing the latches and hinges on the windows themselves. Very easy. Maybe 85's are different?

self tapping screws in hinges and rear catches. 5 second job

I'm not certain is the window frames are the same size, although I expect they are.
To remove the old windows its two screws at the front on the hinges and some at the back on the latch - easy
To fit the new window you will need the different seal type for fixed windows

Ive done that conversion to my project but using perspex instead of glass
You will need to remove the old window by removing the self tappers and sliding it out backwards and remove the old seal as well
Get the fixed window type rubber and fit it around the glass
Then you will need to get some strong string or cord and push it into the other slot in the rubber


thread it all the way round and place on the bottom seam/edge of the window frame with it pushed well into the one corner
then its a case of pulling the cord up and towards you lifting the rubber over the frame edge around the whole window

When its in place give it a good shove from the outside to make sure its pushed well onto the body lip, then your done
