As the topic title, I'm probably mad but I want to convert my MPI to a mk1 grille but don't fancy repainting the front of the bonnet as it looks like it'd need it. The stripes are painted on mine so I was thinking i could store it, get a spare bonnet, cut the lip off and carbon wrap it - would cost much less and I think it'd suit the style I'm going for with my mini...

Any ideas/pictures?

Why don't you just get a carbon bonnet? More expensive, but won't look tacky and chavtastic.....

And won't peel or bubble or rust

Well I'm a student so I can't really justify spending £300+ on a bonnet when mine's really perfectly fine - I could, but I really have to prioritise money at the moment..

I suppose finding a cheap fibreglass bonnet and carbon skinning it http://www.carbonmod...CMCFSK1000.aspx might be another idea? (Or just do it to a spare metal bonnet and go mad on the rustproofing)
