My heater hasn't been working getting hot for a while and obviously winter is here now so really need to sort it. Tonight I've been out and taken the front pipe off the heater itself to test if the matrix was blocked. Ran the car for a couple of minutes and water wasn't gushing out but it was moving. Then when I turned the engine off it let a lot of water through so I would say that isn't blocked.
My question is, do you think I've fixed an air leak as that's basically the only other thing it could've been? I haven't put the pipe back on bit I turned the fan on real quick and it was blowing warm air. But if I just push the pipe back on now it will have an airlock again won't it?

I have tried that.

I'm starting to wonder if my heater is plumbed in right or not.
At the moment ive take the pipe off from the left hand side of the inlet manifold and left it pointing away from the car. The car is running so I can see I I actually pump and water through once it is warm.
I've noticed already a little bit I water dripping out the inlet manifold, but surely it should go into the manifold on the left (brake servo side) ?
Can someone shed a little light?

The heater system should be up to pushing air through, as long as it has a reasonable amount of water in it. Not clear what set up yours is, but if there are 2 small hoses into the bottom hose clamp/block the one that isn't from the heater to force more flow chase air out of the heater.

Connect all the pipes and run it with the rad cap off, this sometimes helps to clear air locks.
