Looking at getting the elec kit for the 45d as some noddy has fitted a dizzy off an austin maxi so not the usual mini stuff

Wondering if Simon at BBC is an open place and you can buy from the unit or is it all online sorta stuff??

We use that kit on 3 race cars and 2 road cars. Top bit of kit and I fail to understand why anyone would run points.
Think they are mail order only but give them a call as they are very helpful.

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but I've just taken the electronic one off and gone back to points. The Simonbbc one was causing a lot of problems with starting as it had far too much advance "built in". Would keep kicking back at the starter motor. Ran ok once started but sounded like it was gonna do damage on start-up. Running and starting beautifully on points and condensor now

you have to fit them correctly and remove the litle pin thats in the way but i have fitted loads of the ignition kits from simon bbc and i will NEVER fit points again as all that sort of thing is made in china or somwhere cheaper and last no time . my daughters mini 1000 has clocked up over 20000mls in the last year and never misted a beat dont think you will get that service from a set of points .

I think the little pin you refer to is when you just replace the points assembly with a module that fits inside your original dizzy. Mine was a complete replacement dizzy. If I've missed something when fitting it please enlighten me and I'll give it another try!

Ethel helped me loads with this when i was thinking of getting one, i still haven't ordered one yet and only because when i spoke to simon he said you can just run the red wire back to the coil even with a ballasted coil, although everyone else says to run it to the 12v live feed on the fuse box.

I'm still deciding!

I have a Standard Electric Dizzy in the 35 (Came Standard).

When the battery has enough power (Its starts on the first click) however as my batter is usual fairly low it takes a few tries. Mines on whatever coils in ther e and some dodgy leads that need changing and needs different plugs...

This is the first time I started it when I bought it, battery fully charged (brand new)
