If all the lights on the intended side only all (front, rear and if fitted, side repeater) all come on steadily, it is a clear indication that the flasher relay has failed. The hazards use a seperate flasher, which may have failed too. Or, the flashers could be in the wrong sockets. They are different, one rated to flash at the correct rate with only two bulbs, and the other with four. I don't think you need the hazards for the MOT, but I may be wrong. If so, someone please tell us.
Check that your interior light works. Not an MOT item, but it does use the same fuse as the hazard flasher, so if it does not, check the fuse. You can identify it because it will have a brown wire (permanent live) on one end and purple-orange on the other.
As always with electrical problems, it would be a great help to have the model and year of the Mini, what kind of fusebox it has (two, four or more) and everything that has been done to it just before the indicators failed, otherwise it is merely guessing. We can often troubleshoot down to a single wire with all the facts.

hi thanks for the reply, it is a 1989 mini city, the indicators was flashing early on today but as soon as the hazzard swith was pressed the indicators didint work and when it was turned off the indicators started again. now the indicators arw staying on? we briefly had the hazzrds working the other day and now they are not so i think the flasher unit is working and the indicator flasher unit, you can hear it that clicking, we looked underneath the dash and there is a green and orange wire hanging loose with a spde connector on the end, could this be anything to do with it? thanks again
edit- the interor light doesnt work but never has even when the hazzards and indicators use to work ?

Could be a faulty hazzard switch!
