Hi everyone - first post here :)

I've got a pretty much bog standard 1983 Mini Mayfair that's now on 12" wheels - it's a very early Mayfair that seemed to come standard with 10", but much prefer having 12" wheels for a number of reasons.

Anyway, I've got the standard plastic arches on it at the moment which do the job and I may keep them on there. However, any other arches that look good without the use of spacers? I'm reticent to use them as the car will be pretty standard and neither I or my dad are keen on the extra work (and detriment to ride quality) involved with us using them.

Yeah - sounds like a good call. Along a similar line, a Group 2-style arch would work? Have actually just found this useful link for showing different arches on different cars:

I entirely depends on the look you're achieving :) Grp 2's in my opinion look good to retro looking Minis i.e. Rally replicas, Cooper S' etc. I quite like Wood & Pickett arches on most Minis but that's just me. Yes Grp 2's should work fine with 12x4.5 or 12x5's. There's lots of pictures in the arches directory on here and on show and shine in the multimedia section to give you an idea of what look to achieve. Again, it's your choice, it's your Mini at the end of the day.

From what I have found by searching, 5.5 is the biggest width wheel you can get on without the need to cut the body to avoid scrubbing. I have a set of Group 2s like previously mentioned, as I like the way they look as they are pretty much the same size as the plastic ones, and they use the same holes as them. But as mentioned above,its your car do what you want to it.

All good thoughts - much appreciated. I actually do quite like the standard arches, apart from the fact that they'e plastic. Am considering either putting some arch trim on the plastic ones, or getting Group 2s and trimming them. :)

I'm not sure but dont think you can put arch trim on the outside of the standard plastic arches. Have never seen it done before. That said you might be one of the first to do it to the standard arches :)

if your still running the 10 inches wheel drum set up you can run the standard 4.5 inch wheel with out arches dues to the narrower track

even a 6 inch wheel will only need a standard group 2 arch
