I bought the following twin box exhaust kit a few weeks ago : http://www.minispares.com/product/Classic/Exhaust_and_manifold/Exhaust/Exhaust/RC40PACKAGE002.aspx?110201&ReturnUrl=/search/classic/rc40.aspx%7CBack%20to%20search

However It all fitted very well apart from some blowing in areas of the exhaust, however I am finding that the silencer box is scraping on speed bumps even though it sits all flush under the car. So I am gong to be buying a single box instead, is this the right pipe for the single box from the manifold? - http://www.minispare...09.aspx|Back to

The manifold is the standard rc40 one in the kit and i think its made by fletcher.

Is there anything else I will need to buy to covert it to a single box.

My car is a 1983 Mayfair.

Thanks in advance

Alex

yes should be fine,

you may need to cut it down depending if you have a freeflow or an lcb manifold

Ok thats good news then, thanks.

The twin box will probably go on our other mini when thats back on the road as that will be riding a bit higher, I will have to wait and see.

I'm in the process of taking off a newish RC40 twin box as we speak and putting on a matching Maniflow single box to the Stg2 Maniflow LCB, more so because the RC40 Twinbox is so quiet and the center box just touches when it goes in the garage.

Well I'm glad someone else has had a similar experience, It was very annoying today as i was going over a speed bump slower than pushing the car  and yes I agree it is a lot quieter than i thought it would be.

If the RC40 centre box hits the ground but you still want to keep the car fairly quiet, the Maniflow 'cherry-bomb' is a good centre box to fit to the RC40 back box. I have had problems witht he RC40 centre box on rally cars as it does sit a bit low.

Just looking under the car you can see it is a bit low near the silencer, the question is are single boxes a lot noisier?

Yes, a single-box RC40 on a 1275 is rather noisy and it's so much better with the twin box.
My Innocenti has the twin RC40 system and at standard ride height it's not too much of a problem. The entre box is qhite a large diameter though and it can't be 'tucked away' like the rear one can.
