For competition and if the regulations allow it's an excellent way of saving weight. On the road, where 1/10ths of seconds in acceleration are not important it's not really worthwhile in cost terms.

I've lost 2 stone since September, and I want to lose another 2! I bet a carbo roof doesn't save 4 stone (25kgs)

Still off topic, but it actually wasn't that hard! I was 16 stone 5! I stopped basing my meals around carbs, moved to brown bread, wholemeal pasta, lots of fruit and veg, and avoided low fat products. Low fat = High sugar! Compare stuff in the supermarket if you don't believe me!

Oh, I also go to the gym 5 times a week!

It's my 31st birthday today! I'm lighter today than I was on my 21st!

Its the position of the 5Kg's really. Higher up on the vehicle it is, the mofe effect on the rollcentre of the vehicle.
Not to mention if you have already got a rollcage, to offset the weight requires a bit more thought sometimes.

Its also a collection of weight saving that builds up.
Drilling out the clutch housing doesn't rermove much either but all helps

It all adds up. A couple of years ago I saw a a+ motor mini that had a carbon fiber roof, boot, bonnet, and doors. He claimed it weighed under 1000 lbs. That's pretty good.

I was thinking in terms of kgs saved per £. Losing 50+ kg using poly carb windows and streetfighter doors seems better use of 500 squid. Imo. I agree 5kg off is still 5kg off

Actually out of interest, i know this is a z cars thread, but its still on the topic of weight loss I was thinking of putting in a carbon boot floor, but do you think it would be ok ( strength wise) with a coil over shocks conversion?
