Cheers. Guy.

Pop rivets are the crapiest way of holding on arches , if you want to drill them out , set your drill to its slowest setting or the friction will heat up the rivet and melt your arch (if you intend to refitt it )

Been there done that! A brand new metal drill bit (nice sharp one, not those cheapo ones that break after 1 use) and a slow speed will cut the rivet out nicely, but I always use bolts or screws where possible for arches.

Cheers guys.

I'm not refitting these arches, I'll be putting the group 5's on with nuts and bolts, but I may have to use rivets at the back..? ;D

To use nuts and bolts on the back its a chew on as you have to take the petrol tank out. I fitted sportpack on mine, The templates are a waste of time to as there not very acurate.

yes you will haver to move the tank but it will all be worth that extra work at the end of they day it always is.
thaught of asking someone that can weld and to just fix the muts on the other side of the holes so when you need to take the arch off the nuts stay where they are and you just unbolt it, works like the self tap screws?!

you could always use rivnuts in the body, then you don't need access from the inside.......

But on the sportspack arch the bolt is moulded into the arch so you have to turn to nut to tighten.

'tis very true, but guy did say he's fitting GP5s. Sportspacks have to be mounted from the inside!

Could you tell me the difference between a rivnut and a rivet?

Cheers. Guy.

a rivnut is simlar to a pop rivet, but bigger. you put it just in the one panel of the body, and it leaves a nut clamped to the shell. Then you just screw the arch on into it. Search in froogle for rivet nut or rivnut and it'll show you some kists. budget ones are ususally around £25.
