everytime im driving my mini it starts missing and when i let go of the throttle it starts to run normal again it seems to be useing alot of petrol as well

Check if the choke is releasing properly.

Have you still got points in this (1987)?
To me is sounds like points gap has closed up or coil breaking done or HT lead.
I would give it a service and renew the plugs, points, Dizzy cap, rotor arm, HT leads and coil. Also clean the carb and make sure the piston is moving freely and has oil in the damper.
