Hi there I need a little help I have just purchased a 1275 gt a series short motor that has need bored +20 ie 1293 I bought it mainly for the pistons as they are flat top high comp ones and are almost new so my question is can I use the gt rods from the a on my a+ crank in my a+ block? Are the big ends the same size and is the stroke the same ad a+

If this sounds confusing at all I will try to be clearer lol

Cheers Darren

Yes you can, most things are interchangeable between A series and A+, as long as you're not trying to cross from 998 to 1275 and vice versa and Cooper S parts are pretty unique to the engine.

In preference, I would rather use A+ rods over GT rods...

Just because it's flat topped down not mean it gives a high compression, there are a lot more other factors to take into consideration apart from piston dish.

Thanks for the fast reply just one other thing are the cranks the same? The crank that came with the gr block needs a grind but my a+ one is mint

I got the fat tops so I could control my comp ratio with chamber work rather than skimming off block and head or is this the wrong way to look at it?
