After I finally managed to get my dad to spray Henry... I am on with putting in some sound deadening. Decided to use a bit of flashband after my mate has showed me proof of it working in his transit van!

Anyone used this on there car?

Hi Abi,

I'm going for Dynmat and Bitumen Flashing from Screwfix for my sound deadening, excited to see some pictures!

Here are some pictures I managed to save as my laptop broke which had pictures for each stage below!! :( By the way... Henry was originally a 1995 whtie mayfair, 1275cc auto, with around 60,000k.

So far Henry has had...

Automatic 1275cc taken out... eventually being repaced with a 1275cc manual.

New A panels on both sides.

A tiny amount of welding done in the drivers floor.

Subframes cleaned up and painted in black hammerite, along with complete new bushes and track rod ends.

Wing ariel removed. Using DAB instead.

There was holes in the scuttles panel, which looked like they were for the wipers, these have now been welded up... still holes for the wipers though!

When being sanded, came across the most horrendous door in the world (possibly) It was basically just covered in filler. At first I thought it has just been skimmed, but it was actually stuffed with newspaper and held in with lots and lots of filler!! And this was basically the whole door!! By the time I had found the newspaper, I had already ordered a new skin. Could not even fit the new skin due to rust being everywhere! so went to a show and just bought a second hand door complete with glass. This too had filler on it due to some really deep scratches, so the new skin was put on this second hand door!

Completely stripped of many layers of paint from previous owners, and given a fresh new purple look (Courtesy of wigan car paints).

If anyone has any advice on how to aquire parts for the clutch, please let me know. I have been advised to buy the parts as second hand, but surely not every part should be second hand? I will keep looking through the Sales pages on here though. I will see what Bingley Hall has on offer

Thank you!! I mixed a few different colours to get it, but it actually came out pretty much like the colour of the lid off vimto bottles haha! It does look a bit more pink in the pics though!

Thanks again!!! :proud:

Hi Abi, you are surrounded by mini dealers luckily, best in the area for 2nd hand parts is M&M's in Warrington, but you also have Minisport & Northwest Mini's locally.
How long before its back on the road ?

to be honest it depends on money, as I am just about to move to a house with my boyfriend that needs a lot of work! But it is my New Year Resolution to get it done now!! I just need parts to put a clutch together, and a few other bits and bobs for the engine! I ideally wanted a garage to fit my engine, just for the peace of mind, and to get reciepts for work etc, but I think it isn't realistic budget wise at this time, but will see what happens! by the end of next week, interior and windows should be in, along with new brake pipe kit, and fuel lines. but you just never know with a mini!! :)

Thanks everyone!!

I wouldn't worry too much about a secondhand clutch, you can get reasonable idea of the condition just by looking. It might be worth placing some wanted ads, people remove good clutches & flywheels to upgrade to performance items.

Well it's been a while!! But I have changed jobs, moved house, rebuilt the house (quicker than a mini... Just!!) and work has started again this weekend! So I rebuilt the subframes once before, but they r back out getting another lick of paint, the engine bay has been painted, the wiring loom is kind of in, the petrol tank has been painted, underneath the car will be getting some treatment, headlining will be going in, fuel lines will be going on, and also the brake lines are on!!

So a bit of process, and a bit of going backwards to go forwards but it's all good. More pics to follow!
