While Ive been in Manchester on business the body shop sent me a few pics

Inside is now painted



Stone chipped and painted underneath









Hopefully seen the last of the snow so if I get it back before Christmas I can crack on with putting it back together

funny .. you said you've driven your car once, on the way home... I haven't driven mine at all, even though it has MOT to Sept-18 and insurance is £106 a year.. i had it in bits within a couple of days.. Yours is looking amazing and the paint shop work is top work! 

 

Have you got a time line for getting it back on the road?

It was never my intention to do a full rebuild on this as I thought Id got a good one to start with but you start digging on a mini and ....... well you know the rest 😆

Id like it finished before April as it would be nice to take it to the pride of Longbridge event
I always go being an ex employee and all that but Im into my fifth year with this car so Im way past any deadlines I ever set myself lol 😂

Happy new year all

I have a painted car 😄👍🏻













Looks really nice in the flesh really happy with it
It will need a mop and polish but that will be done when its put back together

Now the fun really begins 😁

Small update

Cars still at the body shop as Im making room for it so I picked up the doors boot lid and bonnet
made a start on the boot lid and doors
Number plate light unit and boot handle fitted new lenses and bulbs 👍🏻





New gaskets on the hinges





This is a double skin boot lid so Ive used grommets on the holes



New gaskets on the door handles surprising how many people dont fit these 🤔



Started to build the doors up handles and locks are in Ive ordered new Door glass but that will take a week or so to come as mini spares Birmingham are out of stock 🙁

Back to the doors




Handle fitted







Felt pads



Window channel rubber





Plastic fixings for the interior handle and lock





Lock mechanism



Bit fiddly but straightforward
Feed the 2 rods through the door aperture
Door lock rod ( small one ) goes here

Both secured with these link clips easily lost as I found out and spent ages looking for the dam things 😂



Then just feed it into the door and screw it into place





Dont forget to clip the door lock to the lock mech you can just see it in this pic



Couldnt resist fitting the badge to the bonnet





Ive checked everything works correctly and fitted the grab handle and door opener temporarily



Glass is on order but I will be fitting that after Ive hung the doors
