a few months back i started a topic a malta built mini named Lindsay and was featured on June/July's Mini World Magazine titled barn find mini, well that project is almost at a stand still until i find various body panels. Mid summer holidays i found the Malta built mini which needed quite some tlc...this was going to be a small resto which i will use as a daily driver. she;s doing strong!
I bought it for peanut money considering the state which she was in. Immediately i named her Ashley- a troublesome yet obedient, beautiful yet dirty mini.....
I washed her thoroughly and removed all the stuff that was in it. new 10 inch mini lights put on instead of the starmags, and started to drive her. Problems occurred.
Body work side:
i changed only a single body panel - rear valance which was rusted out badly and patched the rear boot floor. i de bumpered it front and back. smooted everything and got it ready for paint. i chose the ferrari red colour.
Mechanical side...hmm the list goes on and on.....
Water pump
front shoes
rear shoes
front wheel cylinders
rear wheel cylinders
front flexible brake hoses
front copper piping
new radiator
new cv joints
new cv boots
re greased all bearings
new top cover gaskit
new oil
new oil filter
new dizzy cap and rotor arm
new plugs
new ht leads
second hand carb (although this one needs a repair kit asap!)
new tyres all round
new battery
alternator bearings
and the list goes on and on
interior :/ i bought two front semi bucket seats out of an old lancia which were fitted to a mini before and fitted only one till today. rear seats match the front ones, put in a stereo system in it and done :)
still more modifications to be made. - next summer after Lindsay, she's up next AGAIN - this time 1275 mg metro engine, twin su's and mk1 style....

yea hopefully this summer i'll do a mk1 facelift. I think it would come out better without the grille moustace( that goes under the bonnet). and put a chrome grille. do you think it would be better with the mk1 rear lights?
