but now i have no indicators,so checked hazards, they work but flash twice the speed they hsould do, all bulbs are working, then to my amazement found out i have no brake lights either!!
u fix one thing, and everything else breaks!!!
are any of these connected on the loom anywhere?? or does anything link them together, ive checked all fuses, there all fine.
could it be the flasher unit??
but why would the brake lights stop working?? ive checked the switch behind the pedal (that broke before) and thats fine.
hmmmmm all out of ideas guys!

I believe your indicator problem will be the flasher unit behind the dash.
As for your other problems, I'm not sure, check the connections at in the boot by each cluster. Think there are some bullet connectors back there as well you may wish to check.

*This is for a normal clubby, pretty sure its the same for a GT but haven't got the wiring diagrams in front of me to check.

These are what your fuses are for:
Fuse between 1&2 -- stoplights, reversing lights, indicator flasher unit, heated rear window. Only working when key switch is on position II.
Fuse between 3&4 -- horn, hazard indicators, and brake failure light. These work all the time.
Fuse between 5&6 -- heater/wipers - these work on position I or II
Fuse between 7&8 -- side and taillights work all the time.
So it maybe your fuse 1 has blown? Have you got reverse lights?
You may also want to look at this.

The alternative, is that when "fiddling", you accidentally shorted something out and fused it. Jammys put the fuses above and if anything it would be #1 gone, but you could also have blown the flasher for them not to work.
Another alternative: the connections to the brake lights are in inline bullet connectors that sit on the engine bay side of the dash. There was a guy (can't remember who) that found his connectors there were soaking wet and shorting out! A quick dry off solved his problem (so it's just a co-incidence between you fiddling and the rears going out!), although I would expects the rear lights or reverse to go to to point to this, its probably worth checking. Be extremely cafeful if you pull out those bullets as they are likely to be corroded
