What Suspension To Run?

Hi guys & gals,
I am going to be rebuilding my pick-up and have been collecting all the parts to help speed up some of the work.
Something that I have now stalled on is what suspension to run, I have read various things on coil overs and cone to coil replacements etc. but have yet to find out what may be the best for me.
I intend to use the pick-up for a few track days and generally have it as a fast road car/pick-up.
What you recommend, fit coil overs OR a good set of adjustable dampers with coil conversion OR good set of adjustable dampers with firmer cones?

hi-lo's with standard cones and click adjust dampers should be okay for both applications, fit adjustable tie bars and bottom arms so you can play around a bit with camber settings.

You won't beat good quality rubber cone springs with decent adjustable dampers.

as above, mini suspension is very good as long as it's in good condition. My personal choice would be not to use adjustable dampers though. Who out of us mere mortals actually know how to set them up properly anyway? What do we know about chassis set up other than feeling the ride getting harsher or softer? It's more than likely that our cars handle worse after being fiddled with by ourselves. The adjuster's get seized very quickly on our salty roads anyway once we get bored of 'playing' with them.
Surely it's better to let some experts at Koni, Bilstein or whatever do the set up and give you a damper thats right out of the box. My view anyway.
KYB gas-a-just are very good and are about a third of the price of Koni or bilstein.

Mini spares red dot cones,hilos set of avo/spax adjustable shocks.adjustable lower arms with poly flex bushes and tie bars,solid mount front subframe,and she be a dream to drive and handle well on track,same set up as we did on dans pick few year back

I think if I follow everyone's advice that will also save me lots of cash to spend on other shiny bits.

Huey has (I hope) a good basic road-going set-up as above and I'll be interested to hear what the guys say overall at the rolling road (they also have tracking equipment). I believe our pick-ups' longer wheelbase is an advantage but can't remember how

Standard rubber cones and decent dampers (ie KYB) and spend the cash you saved for adjusting the suspension geometry.
