Got Her Started But ....

Decided to spend the day driving her so off i went. After ages of off driving, she became hesitant again and felt very rough to drive, was in 4th at the time so dropped it in 3rd, had my foot down and she just wouldn't pick up, stayed at the same speed (don't ask what no speedo at the moment, was around 25/30). at the point the car became hesitant the rev needle also went mad, was staying right at the top near the red line, and at one point just stayed at max revs, i know i wasnt revving that much even though my foot was flat down.
my thoughts were either the coil or the module on the dizzy. if im not mistaken the module is kind off like a switch to ground the coil, controlling the spark. and the revs work from this ground aswell? so when the module sends a ground to the coil, it also sends it to the rev counter?

And those are a bit pricey so disconnect, re-check and clean all coils connections before replacing the dizzy module.

It can be ether the dizzy module or a bad coil contact. Could also be the coil itself, but coil failures are not as common as ignition modules failing..

thanks for that, well i think itll be one of those 2 things failing, wires have all been checked cleaned and connectors changes as needed.

Also did you spray WD40 over the contacts? Thats a very bad idea and if thats the case, clean all the contacts and refit them well tight.
If all else fails, try a different ignition module.

Sounds like a wiring problem, like loose conncetions, bad quality wiring or no water shields fitted. Could also be the ignition module on its last legs.

No water shield fitted but that day I drove it after it started was a dry day, was raining and very cold night before tho. No WD40 was sprayed. Just cleaned and made sure all connections are good and strong.
