Hey everyone,

I am a newbie to the forum and am interested in this 68' Mini. Yes, I realize its not a Cooper S, but it appears in good condition (all I'd do are new seats and a period dash). Can I PLEASE get some thoughts on initial starting price and overall value.

Much appreciated!

he states:
£2,800 SPENT ON REBUILD.ALL WELDING DONE. LOADS OF NEW PARTS,ENGINE RECONDITIONED.

Too little budget for this, i'd ask if you can pop in and have a closer look.

No way could all that work cost that much. Even just parts alone. I hope you know it is a mk2

I think the starting price is a bit high, I would start it about 1k lower to gain the interest. However, I think it's lower than its value, but not by much, I'd put it about £3.5k. This means it may not attract any bidders so you may pinch it with just one bid.

One thing which does put me off...

Does no-one used a spell checker or actually proof read their adds before putting them up, im sure you dont break your brakes !!!!

paintwork on back valance looks flat and not prepared very well. if that's the standard of rest of car i wouldn't be impressed. also white bonnet stripes continuing onto scuttle panel look wrong also front of bonnet on drivers side doesn't line up well

Not an issue, something that's easily rectified. All I would be interested in is that it's mechanically good, and has not been Vosges bodywork wise and paint wise. Paint can be polished up no issues there. Could be a very nice mk2!

Yeah but a spell checker wouldn't pick that up though, would it? Surely a spell checker would just check that you've spelled the words incorrectly, not whether you've actually used the correct words in the first place? A spell checker doesn't know the difference between "breaks" and "brakes", it just knows how to spell both words correctly.

But writing everything in capitals though....... now that really annoys me!! :P

paintwork is bloody awful, you can see there has been minimal prep, can still see chips on the n/s door/screen pillar under the new paint. big sag on the rear valance, n/s door is an awful fit and bit sceptical as to why they've not fully closed the drivers door for the pics?

also the wing/scuttle corners look as though they've had minimal paint. basically it's been botched, give it a year or so and chances are it will look awful!!

True but the fact that they haven't been done could indicate that he hasn't done a thorough job

Yeah was thinking that. Could be a good investment though we have seen how mad the mk1s have gone and I bet the mk2's and 3's will be the same.

if this was a later car I wouldn't think about it because it could just be bodged, and a wadte of money. No investment. but Seeing as its a earlier car I'd go for it. I bet in a few years. You could make money on that!

Ye as long as it stays around this price it will probably be a good buy either way.
